I was in town, and I did create a bucket list of food I wanna eat before going back to Jakarta, and eating dim sum at Tjap Nyonya was unquestionable. There were some other foods I put on the list like nasi goreng mawut pedas Hang Tuah, bakso pakde Mega Legenda, pempek tekwan Mediterania, and more, but Tjap Nyonya is like the fancy one because it's the kind of food that I know during my adulting era and all the food I named before is not restaurant food and just food I've grown up with. Tjap Nyonya is well-known for its dim sum toppings variations, you could find the basic ones like crab or chicken dim sum to mozzarella and pizza dim sum. They also launched mian which is the ramen of Chinese cuisine. In Batam, I could say that this brand has the best and the most famous dim sum and those are facts. The prices for dim sum and bao range from IDR 20.000 to IDR 25.000 while the mian range from IDR 37.000 to IDR 50.000. For the beverages are quite simple which are mineral water, free-flow ocha, and lychee tea. The lack of beverage variation is not an issue for me, because the main character here is the dim sum, so the beverage option is just complementary.
I went to the restaurant with Vanni, later on, I'm sure I'm gonna write many blogs with her name in it. The location is not so far from both of our places and we head out in the afternoon, well it was probably 2 hours after lunch at 4 PM. Hence our order was basically for sharing. Here are what we had:

| Pizza Parmesan Dim Sum |
We ate the mian in a short time and got lingered quite some time with the dim sums because, despite the size, the dim sum is very filling. We got stuffed so fast after the mian and 3 pieces of dim sum. For the mian I just didn't find it that different from others that's why we ordered it for sharing, but it was great. The broth was flavorful, the texture of the noodles was not too soft, and overall great with splashes of chili oil. As for the dim sums, the best one in my opinion would be the Mentayaki due to the additional texture the topping provides and number two would be the smoked beef one. The Smoked Beef one was pretty basic, but that's the best part because it's just straight-up satisfying in its way. Coming out next is the Pizza Parmesan, I like it and they gave a generous amount of parmesan sprinkled on it but I don't think Chinese and Italian fit that well with the bolognese sauce. I found it better to stick with salty and spicy rather than sweetness from the bolognese. Lastly, there'd be our cold Mozzarella dim sum. I blamed myself for eating it after the mian, because the cheese was NOTHING without its melty texture :(((
Oh, also... they have chili oil that excites me the most to be honest. Their chili oil is full of spices, I can't be sure because they ground it thoroughly but I could say that there was more than just chili powder due to the various textures it has. The spicy level is perfect in that it doesn't interfere with and ruin the main dish at all, and the best part is it has a very balanced saltiness. The savoriness endured me the most, I was obsessed with it and I remember pouring on top of the dim sum rather than dipping the dim sum in it. The juiciness of the meaty texture drenched in spiceful salty chili oil was just top-notch, I could eat it all day!
Oh, I forgot to mention, this place also has a dim sum boat with the price of IDR 180.000 that'd be perfect for sharing. As much as I love this place, I want you to enjoy this place as much as I do so here are a few tips before going here! Anytime you are in town, go check this place out and enjoy racks of bamboo plates of dim sum.
Tips
- Don't go in the evening if you don't want to wait longer! This place is crowded at dinner time, so if you wanna grab a quick bite, never choose dinner time.
- Look down for the ice cube! For free-flow beverages, you would refill it on your own and don't overlook the ice if you'd like some because I did. Look down right in front of the dispenser, and grab the metal spoon next to it!
- Eat it right away! This is for the Mozzarella dim sum, you'll enjoy it better with the heat and meltiness
- Bring cash! This place has tukang parkir so be aware of them if you bring a private vehicle. IDR 2.000 for a motorbike and IDR 4.000 for a car.
